DOWNSTAGE

Privacy Notice

Version 1.1 — Effective date: 6 October 2026

This notice explains how personal data are processed when you visit downstage.it and when you use the Downstage application. It is provided under articles 13 and 14 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (the "GDPR").

1. Controller

The controller is Andrea Pollastri (the "Author"). Contact details are published at https://web.ap.it.

2. The Downstage application

2.1. Downstage works offline on your computer; the only connection it makes on its own is the update check of section 2.4. It has no account, no registration, no analytics, no telemetry and no advertising, and it does not send your recordings, sessions or any other content to the Author or to third parties.

2.2. Your sessions, settings and preferences are stored only on your computer, in the folders you choose and in the application's local storage. You can delete them at any time.

2.3. Links in the application (for example to downstage.it or web.ap.it) open in your web browser; the processing described in section 3 then applies.

2.4. To offer updates, the application checks downstage.it for a newer version: at most every six hours while it is open, or when you choose Check for Updates. The check requests one small file (https://downstage.it/updates/latest.json) and, if you choose to install an update, downloads it from the same site. These requests carry no identifier, account or content of yours; like any visit, they are logged by the hosting provider as described in section 3. You can turn the automatic check off from the Downstage menu (Check for Updates Automatically); the application then contacts the website only when you ask.

3. The website

3.1. The website is a static site. It uses no cookies, no third-party fonts and no contact forms.

3.2. To count visits, each page loads a script from stats.misterdev.it. The script stores a random visitor identifier in the browser's local storage and a session identifier in session storage. It sends to that service the page path and title, the query string, the referring page, any campaign parameters in the address, the browser language and time zone, the browser's user agent, how long the page stayed open, and the address of a link when you leave the site. If JavaScript is off, the page requests a one-pixel image from the same service with the page path. This is used only to understand how the site is used. Legal basis: the Author's legitimate interest in knowing whether the site is used (article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Blocking the script, or clearing this site's storage in the browser, stops it.

3.3. The website is hosted by Netlify, Inc. When you visit it or download a file, the hosting provider's servers necessarily process technical data, such as your IP address, the date and time of the request, the requested resource, the referring page and your browser's user agent, in order to deliver the website and to keep it secure.

3.4. Legal basis for the hosting logs: the legitimate interest of the Author in delivering a working and secure website (article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

3.5. These logs are kept by the hosting provider for the limited period set by its own policies and are not used by the Author to identify visitors or to build profiles.

3.6. The hosting provider may process data in the United States. Such transfers rely on the safeguards provided by the hosting provider, such as the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework or the Standard Contractual Clauses adopted by the European Commission.

4. Contacting the Author

If you write to the Author, the data you send (such as your name, e-mail address and message) are used only to reply to you, on the basis of your request (article 6(1)(b) GDPR) or of the Author's legitimate interest, and are kept only as long as needed for that purpose.

5. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify and erase your personal data, to restrict or object to their processing and to data portability, within the limits set by articles 15 to 22 of the GDPR. You can exercise these rights by contacting the Author through the details published at https://web.ap.it. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in Italy the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (https://www.garanteprivacy.it).

6. Changes

The Author may update this notice. The current version is always published at https://downstage.it/privacy.html with its effective date.
